2022-2023 Pre-K Registration

Step 1: Review the requirements to determine Pre-K eligibility.
To be eligible for enrollment in the KISD full-day Pre-K program, a child must be four years old on or before September 1, 2022, and meet one or more of the following criteria:
- is economically disadvantaged based on annual household income or is eligible to participate in the national free or reduced-price lunch program.
- has limited English proficiency.
- is homeless.
- is the child of an active duty member of the U.S. Military.
- is the child of a member of the U.S. Military who was injured or killed while on active duty.
- is currently in or has ever been in foster care.
- is the dependent of a Star of Texas awardee.

Step 2 : Collect required documentation to complete the Pre-K application.
Economically Disadvantaged - Paycheck, unemployment, worker's compensation, or disability payment stub.
- TANF or SNAP Eligibility Letter.
- 2022 tax return.
- Medicaid benefits letter.
Limited English proficiency Home Language Survey. Homeless KISD Student Services approval. Active-duty Military - Military ID.
- Statement of service.
Injured or killed while on active duty. - Copy of death certificate.
- Copy of Purple Heart orders.
- Official letter from Commander.
Foster Care Letter from DFPS or FORM 2085. Star of Texas Award Certificate of the award. -
Step 3 : Complete and submit the Pre-K Application

Step 4 : If qualified, information on how to complete registration will be sent through the Ascender Parent Portal.
